Of course you’ve heard of Capri, the Italian isl Of course you’ve heard of Capri, the Italian island off the coast near Naples that’s a favourite with luxe-loving visitors. If you’re particularly well-travelled, you may also be familiar with its neighbour island, Ischia, with its thermal baths. Inbetween the two sits another small speck of land, Procida. With its fishing villages, pastel-painted houses and just 10,000 inhabitants, Procida has flown under the radar - until now. It’s just been named Italy’s 2022 Capital of Culture. Get ready to start seeing a lot more about its black-sand beaches and its seafood restaurants.📷 Archana Reddy at Unsplash

They pull out all the stops to make you pay attention: think jacarandas, with their cumulonimbus clouds of purple blossoms (which then transform into an equally vivid carpet), or Jasmine, which sends its heady aroma right through the neighbourhood. Our flowering gums are less showy, but these pretty blossoms still know how to play to the audience: just look at how the bees are crowding in, helping themselves to some of that delicious nectar.
Country getaways aren’t what they used to be. In Country getaways aren’t what they used to be. In today’s @financial review, I wrote about one of my favourite finds of last year, @goonoogoonoostation. Located just out of Tamworth, this unlikely luxury retreat set on a historic cattle and sheep station includes chic heritage cottages and a sophisticated restaurant, Glasshouse.
On any list of things I will never tire of looking On any list of things I will never tire of looking at, Sydney Harbour would be right at the top. Like hot chips and the feel of swimming in the ocean, I have loved it as long as I can remember. Some of my earliest memories are of admiring the glittering water as we drove over the Harbour Bridge (does anyone else remember the huge convict painted on the side of the building, beckoning “Turn left and see The Rocks”?) I bought my first apartment mainly because because it had an (admittedly distant) view of the harbour; I live where I live now because it’s close to the water. And I still never get bored with finding a slightly different view across this gorgeous body of water - like this one I passed today on my way to my appointment with a JP (coincidentally, this is just a couple of blocks from my first apartment.)
For a city that was nearly wiped off the face of t For a city that was nearly wiped off the face of the earth just a few hundred years ago, Lisbon scrubs up pretty well. In fact, it does a lot more than that. By my reckoning, Lisbon is one of the prettiest cities in Europe, and on the latest episode of my Walk the World podcast, we explore some of its many delights - including, of course, custard tarts.
Don’t get me wrong - I’ve really enjoyed writi Don’t get me wrong - I’ve really enjoyed writing about Australia’s many remarkable destinations over this past year. But when @travellerau asked me to contribute to a cover story about the overseas destination I’m hanging out to get back to - well, my spirits soared. Just thinking about other countries got me more excited than I would have imagined. There were so many contenders that I considered writing about but in the end, I opted for India - a dazzling, dizzying stew of colour and crowds, rich history and remarkable present. Wouldn’t you rather be scoffing a street-side samosa or taking a seat at a chai stall? India I 💕 you.
